Fourth Joint ISO-ACL/SIGSEM Workshop on
Interoperable Semantic Annotation isa-4

January 5 and 6, Tilburg, the Netherlands, in conjunction with IWCS-8

Fourth joint workshop of ACL SIGSEM Working Group "The Representation of Multimodal Semantic Information" and ISO TC 37/SC 4 (Language Resources) WG 2: Annotation and representation schemes, including the ISO External Consultation Group for Dialogue Act Annotation.
Open to IWCS-8 participants and other researchers involved or interested in semantic annotation or representation.

Purpose:
This workshop aims to bring together experts from ongoing and recent projects concerned with the annotation, interpretation, or generation of linguistic and multimodal semantic information, to discuss the state of the art and prospects for defining coherent sets of interoperable concepts for semantic annotation. The workshop will focus on the following items:

methodological aspects of semantic annotation

two recently started ISO projects on semantic annotation:

project 24617-2 Semantic Annotation Framework, Part 2: Dialogue acts
project 24617-1 Semantic Annotation Framework, part 1: Time and events

two possible new projects:

a joint project of ISO and OMG (Open Management Group) on the representation of date and time expressions
a project on the annotation of spatial information
